Infrared Surface-to-Air Missile 2-Ultraviolet (IRSAM2-UV)
DRS ICAS, LLC. has developed the most realistic threat
simulator of IR/UV hostile missiles to date. The Infrared
Surface-to-Air Missile 2-Ultraviolet (IRSAM2-UV) is the latest
in Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) simulation.
It is adjustable to varying weather conditions in order to
more accurately portray realistic threats. The system is
reactive to pilot countermeasures and is HMMWV mobile to
challenge the pilot’s time critical targeting capabilities. This
mobility also allows for the duplication of “shoot-on-the-run”
tactics used by some current battlefield threats. The system
introduces total realism to provide aviator combat training
and mission rehearsals on peacetime training ranges.
The IRSAM2-UV allows the warfighter to train against a
variety of IR/EO MANPADS type systems by reliably
stimulating aircraft Missile Warning Systems (MWS) at
realistic ranges. The IRSAM2-UV stimulates multiple aircraft
sensors simultaneously to increase training realism. The
multi-spectral sources on the IRSAM2-UV emit a combination
of RF, UV and IR threat profiles. MANPADS training
proficiency can lead to increased aircrew survivability in
hostile environments.
