Communications Emulator
The DRS Communications Emulator - Field Intensity
Measurement (COMMEM - FIM) is a highly mobile and
lightweight test instrumentation station. It measures,
records, and documents signal strengths at receiver sites
during vulnerability assessments providing jammer-to-signal
(J/S) ratios and transmit parameters. Mobility and accuracy
allows for immediate assessment of both transmitter and
signal parameters during test and training scenarios (ground
truth), and then provides hard copy documentation for
post-scenario analysis and exercise de-briefing.
The unit specializes in extended test range scenarios due to
its 8-hour digital recording capability, two on-board
generators, telescoping antenna, and day/night vision
InfraRed (IR) cameras. It is easily re-configurable in support
of multiple systems including a C4I substation or
Communications Signal Emulators.
These features are contained in a unique 4x4 commercial
vehicle, however, they are readily adaptable for tactical
military vehicles. The vehicle includes a comfortable
workstation with both heat and air conditioning. Optional
equipment, including spectrum and network analyzers,
receivers, and oscilloscopes, are accommodated easily by
the modular design.
