UnManned Threat Emitter (UMTE)
The DRS modernized UnManned Threat Emitter (UMTE) is a
true Effective Radiated Power (ERP) system remotely
operated with high-fidelity signal representation. This system
provides Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) ranging solutions
resulting in realistic tactical training for combat aircrews.
UMTE is excellent for mission rehearsal ranges where pilots
can practice their tactics before encountering the real threat
in actual combat. Advanced threats are easily programmed
through our user-friendly ThreatBuilderâ„¢ software and the
pedestal is robust, supporting antenna movement at a rate
that easily tracks high- speed targets. The modernization
program provides enhancements to the threat reactivity
model to include aircraft maneuvers and deployment of
chaff. The state-of-the-art Electronic Attack (EA) receivers
that analyze the jamming produced by the aircraft system
and enable the threat to react accordingly, are invaluable
tools for training today’s pilots how to survive in tough
wartime environments.
The modernized UMTE systems have been installed at Nellis,
Luke, AZ and Eielson, AK Air Force Bases and are scheduled
for Volk Field, WI and Nellis AFB, NV in the near future. UMTE
is the leading edge in realistic pilot training for real world
electronic warfare environments.
