Sustainability Message
DRS strongly endorses the “triple bottom line” of people, planet and profit. To do this well, corporate policy requires that the health and safety of our workers and the environment are examined in every decision we make.
The “people” aspect of the triple bottom line is best reflected in our very strong employee health and safety programs. Before any chemical arrives at any of our facilities, before any equipment is ordered, it is rigorously reviewed for employee health and safety, as well as environmental considerations. This aspect is also reflected in our history of commitment to charitable giving.
The “planet” aspect of the triple bottom line is best reflected in our products, which are designed to save our customers millions of gallons of fuel, resulting in dramatic reductions in carbon emissions as well as other air contaminants. Recent product initiatives include hybrid ship engines, which could save 10.7 billion pounds of CO2 emissions if deployed to all of the U.S. Navy’s DDG-51 destroyers.
The “profit” aspect of the triple bottom line is best reflected in our long history of outstanding financial performance.
Companies that manage their business to the “triple bottom line” contribute to the sustainability of our planet. For DRS, this is the bottom line.
