GSA PROCUREMENT PROCESS DEVELOPED FOR DRS ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTS

ARLINGTON, VA, June 19, 2012 -- DRS Technologies, Inc., a Finmeccanica Company, announced that one of its business units, DRS Environmental Systems, Inc., has established a procurement process through a GSA Schedule 56 contract for several rugged environmental control products.

This procurement process will provide all agencies that use the GSA venue with a fast and easy way to purchase two DRS environmental control units (ECUs); the 60K Improved ECU (IECU) and the 60K Lightweight ECU (LECU). Both systems regulate the quality and temperature of the air in shelters in any climate and under hazardous conditions.

The DRS 60K IECU is the program of record for Project Manager – Mobile Electric Power (PM-MEP). The 60K LECU is compatible with Joint Project Manager Collective Protection equipment, functions with Army and Navy field hospitals, and is qualified by the U.S. Air Force for use with its Expeditionary Medical Support (EMEDS) program.

Also included on the GSA contract are flight line ground support products; the DRS GH-100 Explosion Proof Mobile Heater and upgrade kits for the DRS MA-3D Flight Line Air Conditioner (FLAC). The GH-100 Explosion Proof Mobile Heater (also known as HDU-13/M) is an electrically-powered, ground portable heater that provides heat and ventilation in atmospheres where aviation gasoline or jet fuel may be present. The MA-3D upgrade kits increase the operating temperature capability of fielded MA-3D FLAC units which deliver general purpose air conditioning to personnel and aircraft avionics on the flight line.

Additional DRS environmental control products are planned for inclusion in the GSA contract in the future.

“Our equipment is called upon to perform in a full spectrum of rugged environmental conditions since regulating temperature and humidity is vital for successful operations that rely on optimum human and sensitive electric equipment performance,” says Larry Ezell, vice president and general manager of DRS Environmental Systems, Inc. “We are pleased to provide these products on the GSA Schedule to help streamline the end-user’s procurement process.”

Headquartered in Florence, KY, DRS Environmental Systems, Inc. designs and builds rugged and transportable environmental equipment that is generally classified as “ground support” for forward-deployed troops and first responders. Itsproducts include mobile shelters, refrigeration systems, heaters and environmental control units.
