JOSEPH MILITANO APPOINTED DRS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND COMMUNICATIONS

ARLINGTON, VA, September 6, 2012 -- DRS Technologies, Inc., a Finmeccanica Company, announced that it has appointed Joseph Militano as Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications. 

Prior to joining DRS, Militano was Vice President of International and Business Development Communications for Raytheon Company. He developed strategy and led the communications efforts for Raytheon’s international business, derived from defense, security and government markets around the world.

Militano was also the senior communications representative in Raytheon’s Washington, D.C. office, where he was responsible for strategic communications in support of the company’s Homeland Security business. He has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility within Honeywell’s defense and space business as well as IBM Federal Systems where he led the company’s communications initiatives for the U.S. space program in Houston, TX.

A graduate of Boston University’s School of Public Communications and the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business Executive Development Program, Militano brings nearly 35 years of experience in corporate communications and news media. He was an investigative reporter with the Connecticut Post prior to beginning his corporate career.

Militano will be responsible for all aspects of Public Affairs and Communications, including media relations, marketing communications, advertising, organizational communications and executive support.
